Colossus: The Forbin Project

forbinMUSEUM OF COMPUTING – 5.30PM

Dir. Joseph Sargent USA 1970 100 mins (CFF 12A)
Eric Braeden, Susan Clark, Gordon Pinsent

Dr Charles Forbin is a computer designer and has supervised the building of Colossus, protected inside a mountain, to run America’s nuclear defences. It soon detects its Russian counterpart, Guardian, and they link up and quickly take control of the world. While Forbin and colleagues try to re-take control, Colossus and Guardian are one step ahead and planning what is best for the world.

Clinical in its script, impeccably paced, it seems even more realistic today than it did in 1970.

And what better than to watch it in the Museum of Computing!
